Fuelled by crises (economic, health, ecological) and conflicts, boosted by “Growth at all costs”, our current world is wobbling. At a time of change, what to expect from leaders and managers at this critical moment? This is the subject of this editorial offered to us by Valérie Rocoplan, CEO of Talentis and Executive Coach.
We are entering 2023 with, for many of us, the feeling of experiencing a real Sociological tipping point global that will significantly change our lifestyles. In the coming months and for a few decades, we will enter the era of responsible degrowth which will only accelerate due to the lack of energy resources, by the shortages of materials of all kinds, by the urgency to consume the resources of our planet reasonably in order to manage the global warming.
Contradictory forces are opposing each other in a way that is still not very visible, but dissensions are rumbling.
Between those who continue to bet on growth at all costs, without conscience or responsible actions, in a logic of more money for even more money, and millions of citizens, artisans, farmers, farmers, leaders who are actively mobilizing to change the model and return to our children and grandchildren a repaired planet.
After the era of reducing our impact comes the era of “repair” or “regeneration.”
Some examples of those who inspire us and awaken our leadership consciousness:
All these initiatives are groups of actors committed to acting on a daily basis in a logic of “Stop GREEN BASHING” in order to move towards a logic of “START DOING NOW”!
As the recent speech by young Agro graduates has shown, the movement of funds from young (and not so young) talents reveals a profound lack of jobs that consist in chasing sales growth.
Jobs that work for the well-being of people, businesses and organizations attract a lot of talent while companies that are recognized as seriously polluting struggle to prove that they are doing their part. Impact Revolution.
Crafts and catering trades are also making a comeback in a logic of putting these beautiful trades back into the spotlight (cabinetmaker, carpenter, plumber, turner, breeder, landscape designer, etc...).
Students shout their anger at public institutions or openly refuse the economic models that are still being tried to make them swallow and take their courage in both hands to dare to challenge sacred institutions.
The extraordinary success of La Fresque du Climat, which was able to very quickly educate and influence millions of employees and teams from all kinds of organizations, finally demonstrates the desire to better understand.
However, understanding is good, acting is better.
The good news is that things are moving and consciences are waking up.
But leaders and managers of small and large businesses need to get out of GREEN WASHING and quickly. develop ambitious and realistic strategies to reduce their carbon footprint and accelerate the deployment of responsible practices and behaviors on a daily basis.
Some great applications allow everyone and teams to measure their carbon impact in order to engage in new uses:
Everyday actions can have a bigger impact than nice phrases on a wallpaper.
