Professional coaching: refocusing in difficult times.

One of the frequent themes in professional coaching is the ability to refocus in difficult times. Via his famous 5 “i”, Carlo Moïso, Italian psychiatrist, psychotherapist and specialist in Transactional Analysis, left us some keys. We let you discover them in the video below.

This morning I was thinking about 5 “i”. These points, these keys help us To become more adults and to building our inner solidity throughout our lives. Especially during difficult times. These 5 “Is” were bequeathed to us by Carlo Moïso, expert in Transactional Analysis who left us a few years ago. They are excellent because they allow us to refocus in the particular period we are currently living in. These are:

  • The irreversibility of the past
  • The unpredictability of the future
  • The imperfection of the present
  • The irremediability of death
  • The senseless/injustice of “everything”

Point 1 to refocus on difficult times: the irreversibility of the past

There are two ways of doing things. Let's be stay frozen in his memories, nostalgic for the past: “Nothing will ever be the same again” .Either We decide to grow, to accept the past and to learn from it.Let's also not forget to keep the best in your mind to learn from it, why not, one or more experience (s) .It is also important to be able to accept past mistakes.

Point 2: the unpredictability of the future

This point resonates all the more today where the future is particularly uncertain. What Carlo Moïso tells us on this point is that he There is no point in making plans on the comet. It is better to rely on facts in order to be able to Remain an actor even in this period of uncertainty. Tell yourself that each of our thoughts, emotions and actions co-constructs the future.

Point 3: the imperfection of the present

That of the present, but also ours. Yes, what we are experiencing is imperfect. Yes, that could be better. However, the real lesson of wisdom is the ability to live each moment as if it were the last. To be centered, focused, listening, which goes against our natural tendency. At the moment, we rather want to be projected directly into the future to forget the current times.

Point no. 4: the irremediability of death.

This is probably the most complicated part. We live in a society where death and illness are taboo. Today we are forced to face reality. Perhaps this situation finally makes us wiser and puts “the essential back to the heart of the important”.“Does what I'm doing make sense to me? ”, “Are the people I love near me? ”, “Have I fixed some things that I could fix? ”, “Does everything I do as a leader with my team make sense? ” It also means taking care of yourself, sleeping well, not falling into excesses, etc...

Point 5: the senseless/injustice of “everything”

For some people who have religious beliefs, it will probably be less complicated. For others, who may wonder what life is for in the end, Carlo Moïso Would recommend referring to the previous 4 “i” : to be at our best, at the “T” moment, centered and focused on what we are doing! In this period of crisis, Talentis remains mobilized to support all your talents remotely on the professional coaching themes that we believe are the most important.
