How do you reconnect as a team?

After these months, these years of crisis, cohesion, forced teleworking, we have a lot of teams that are finally in the moment when they are rebuilding the way they cooperate. They are rebuilding new habits to get back together and start a new adventure again. Of course, COVID is not yet completely over, but we are sure that we now need to turn this page and redefine how we work together in order to build effective collective intelligence.

We support teams, leaders and managers around five areas that we will effectively call the team's PACTE. Reconnecting as a team means building a new PACT, and we are going to explore its five axes.

P is for Sharing

The first step is the P for Sharing. In this reconnection, it is essential that the team can have a moment that is not focused on the project, the action or the results of the team, but maybe just on sharing what the team has been through for a few months, a year, two years, and that you organize this time as a team.

At the head level, what did we build, invent, innovate? What were the new ideas that came out of that time collectively and created value?

At the heart level, what did we experience emotionally together in this team that enriched us but was also difficult at the level of people? How did we make progress on this path? What has been done in concrete terms? What actions have we implemented? How did we build together, how did we work together?

A is for Ambition

The second element of the PACTE is the A for Ambition, in the sense of the dream, of common intentions. Where do we want to go now? Not in the sense of the goal after three, five or ten years, but what will connect us? What are we going to be proud of at the end of this year? What do we want? What will bring us together and that we will not forget in times of difficulty?

C for Behaviour or Cooperation

The C for Behaviour, or Cooperation. What values do we want now that are really ours for the months to come? And how does that translate in terms of daily behavior and cooperation? What do we want to see and what do we not want to see anymore? What did we hate in those moments when we didn't really see each other? Indeed we did not work much together. What are the behaviors that will promote our cooperation? What are the values of authenticity, sharing, transparency, and trust that we really want to see embodied in our team? What are we throwing away and what are the three or four values that we are going to highlight and agree on in order to start again together?

T is for Time

T for Time and especially like in Team Times. This is about doing the big cleaning. How do we make meetings that are efficient, fun, friendly, shorter... But we also need to put back some relaxation, conviviality and audacity. There are therefore times for brainstorming that must be isolated. There are decision-making times in these meetings, there are times for sharing information, how do we redefine our team times in such a way that they are varied, effective and useful?

E is for Commitment

Finally, to finish in the PACTE, there is the E for Commitment. What are the times to engage the team, the times when we are going to do what is called a “learning break”? What did we learn? Recognizing what we have done, recognizing the individual and collective contributions that create engagement, is the feeling of learning, the feeling of being useful, the feeling of having contributed, the feeling of being recognized. These breaks where everyone shares what they have done, how they have contributed to success, and what they still need to do, are times that nourish collective commitment.

P for Sharing, A for Ambition, C for Cooperative Behaviour, T for Team Time and E for Commitment. How do we, as a leader, redefine these five axes to reconnect, create links, make each of us want again, and really start again together in a real us. It's hard work and it doesn't happen naturally. We advise you all to take this time well with your team and to trust Talentis if you want to organize team seminars, team coaching or even team building around these five times. We will be happy to accompany you around five half-days during which, together with your team, you will meet the basics of this new us.
