Alignment: the cornerstone of leadership seminars

For almost 15 years, Talentis has organized more than 800 seminars for some sixty major French and international groups. The reasons for such trust lie, among other things, in Talentis' ability to offer tailor-made support to its customers. Personalized support whose success is above all conditional on good coordination management between the sponsor, participants and coaches during a support day as part of a leadership seminar. Céline Thomas, Executive Coach of Talentis for 8 years, introduces us to the importance of perfect communication between coaches and with the sponsor, to make the leadership seminar experience unforgettable for participants.

You have been working with Talentis for 8 years, do you have to be experienced in hosting days? Everything should be able to be done automatically now.

In reality, what is exciting about the work we are doing in partnership with Talentis is that it is difficult, if not impossible, for me to identify two similar missions. And I would even go further by saying that within the same program, the composition of the teams, the themes addressed or the energy of the participants, can make each day totally unique. The challenge for us coaches, who work as a team or individually depending on the nature of the support, is to find the perfect alchemy between the needs of the sponsor, the aspirations of the participants and the working methods of each coach.

In concrete terms, what exactly do you do to ensure the correct synchronization between coaches?

So, of course, we have time to work in advance, which is fundamental to align ourselves with the objectives, modalities and the various stages of the program. Meetings in which not only the coaches concerned participate, but also the sponsor (s) and Talentis project managers. But as you can never be too careful, any new day starts with a last moment of synchronization to ensure that everyone is well adjusted to the themes and objectives. A kind of final balance as musicians can do before the start of a concert.

Are there never any unexpected events that disturb this seemingly solid road map ?

While we try to check every detail that morning, there may be times when a situation with a particular group or participant requires more attention. That's why we have progress points between coaches during the day. Being able to discuss, advise each other and provide an appropriate response to each difficulty encountered, such is the added value of the Talentis coaching community. The comfort of the client, that of the participants, and in the last instance, that of the coaches is at stake.

It is therefore clear that the alignment of coaches is an essential ingredient in the success of the programs developed by Talentis. However, does such an alignment require a complete erasure of the characteristics specific to each coach? These same characteristics for which they were partly chosen by the customer.

Indeed, as coaches, we are all different. Whether it's about the tools we are able to use, our specialties, or even our experiences, we all have our own ways of working. And this is precisely what constitutes the richness of our work with Talentis, and which makes it possible to carry out tailor-made programs. But you are right. Although this diversity is above all a strength, it is necessary to follow a rigorous method to guarantee our customers optimal support, and which tends towards a specific goal. This is why a “lead coach” is appointed at the beginning of each coaching. He will be the guarantor of homogeneity within the coaching team.

Is it important to give participants the image of a friendly team of coaches, whose members like each other?

It is essential! It is our responsibility to spread positive energy that will reflect on the participants. This energy allows them to make the most of the work done. Moreover, I already had examples of programs after which a participant contacted me again for individual coaching sessions. The image of professional coaching has changed considerably over the years, in a very positive way. While we used to say: “But you are going to attend coaching sessions, what is wrong? ”, today we hear more: “It's great, your company finances you coaching sessions, it believes in your potential! ”
